The class is a beehive of activity
Flexible mornings and afternoons
Children are encouraged to do things for themselves and have freedom of choice under the guidance and support of their own designated Montessori principal.
There is a high staff to child ratio of 1:8 that provides personalized attention and care to each child.
The class is a hive of activity, but with a sense of calm and determination that is not normally found in this young age group.
In the mornings children are free to choose an activity from the shelves, to join in the thematic work planned for that day, to make art or play in the garden or to have breakfast (which is available every day until recess).
For children who stay in the evenings (attendance is flexible), they join in fun activities like cooking, art, gardening, a fun science experiment or yoga under the trees in the garden.
The children are carefully observed and their progress is recorded daily.
We believe that learning should be fun and enjoyable for each child to reach their true academic, social and physical potential.
Through the Montessori ethos, they become independent and self-confident individuals with a true love of learning.
During the Early Years Foundation Stage (0 to 5/6 years), children follow an educational programme based on the British system combined with Montessori activities and methodology.
At this stage, the children receive the knowledge and language skills necessary to access Basque, Spanish and the national English curriculum when they reach the age of five or six.
